Fun at Franklin Park

A friend of mine forwarded this information to me. If you live in the area, it sounds like a fun day!

Dear Franklin Park Friends:

Don't miss the Fall Forest Festival this Saturday, September 19th from 10:00 - 4:00. You can come for one or all of the activities.

Here's the schedule:

10-Noon: Volunteer in the woodlands, pulling invasives, and clearing gutters to prevent erosion. Volunteers welcome to stay for lunch, thanks to REI, wilderness adventure store, our co-sponsor.

12:00-2:00 pm: Landscape watercolor painting on Schoolmaster Hill - all levels welcome, materials provided.

1:00 - 4:00 pm: Play games in the woods (Capture the Flag and more!), go on family nature walks with an expert, and climb a (really big) tree with Andrew Joslin and his ropes and equipment.

It's going to be a beautiful day!

Coming up:
- Woodlands Volunteer Team: plant saplings & clear invasives - Saturday, September 26th 2:00-4:00pm
- Discover Roxbury Bike Ride: tour the Main Street districts around Franklin Park - Saturday, October 17th 10am - Noon
- At-large City Council Candidates' Debate on Parks & Open Space - Thursday, October 22nd 6:30-8:00pm - join the group of organizations sponsoring the debate - does your church, neighborhood association, health center, or child's sports league care about parks? All they have to do is lend their name and spread the word to their constituency. Send a message to mail@bostonparks.org to learn more.

Wish List:
If you're cleaning out your tool shed, we'd love any under-used loppers, clippers, rakes, shovels, push brooms, or a lawn mower!
